THerepeutic Relationships as A tool for change

MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY for adolescents & adults

Connection

Interpersonal Process connection is the root of therapy we will do together. Our connection and understanding of each other helps me interpret experiences in session as a reflection of your existence. Our connection grounds the conversation and guides the change.

EMPATHy

Sessions with me often feel intimate, deep, and rich, while also feeling comfortable, casual, and collaborative. I like to take our sessions seriously, without it feeling "too serious".

RELATIONSHIP

Therapy is oriented first and foremost toward the process of building a connected relationship between you and me. I see our relationship as our best tool for creating change, even above factors like therapy style, theory, or approach.

Try something new

I use an Interpersonal Process approach as my theoretical backbone. That looks like bringing events and patterns from your life into our therapeutic relationship and then exploring new ways of feeling and responding to those events and patterns that can lead to new ways of living. Interpersonal Process can be heavily experiential, and many clients like to have something more concreate to take away from each session. To meet that need, I often introduce a multitude of skills for clients to learn and practice from CBT, DBT, ACT, and Mindfulness. I find the combination of experiential healing plus skill development to be powerful and well-rounded.

You are the authority on your life & lived experiences

I'm client-led, which means I don't see myself as an expert on you or the things that bring you to therapy, but instead see you as the ultimate authority on you. I do my best to create space for the identities you bring to session. Identities like one's race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender, but also identities like "parent," "athlete," "nerd," "nature-lover," "person of faith," or "professional,” all make up the person that sits down for a session. As such, making room for those identities to come forward is vital.

Creating a plan that works for you

I always recommend a free 15 minute consultation when deciding on a therapist.

All sessions are telehealth at this time.
